1 year anniversay
Oh it is in 5 days, and silly me has not thought of a single thing to buy until today ... the gift is suppose to be paper .. so what about tickets to go snorkeling in la jolla
What to buy by the years!
Traditional anniversary gifts have been passed down through the ages. Though we do not know where all of the traditions originally came from, historians have traced some traditions as far back as the Middle Ages. The first actual "lists" as we know them today were not compiled until the 20th century, however.
The gifts themselves often incorporate things that were or are still associated with good luck or good fortune. Each of these gifts is centered on a material or element, and you are unlimited in how the gift expresses it. Remember that, unless your marriage is predicated on spending, you do not need to "spend more" each year. A thoughtful gift given in love can often mean more than an expensive gift given without thought. That does not mean you should spend cheaply, however; just that each year does not need to outdo the year before.
First -- Paper. Anything from a book of her favorite poetry, to tickets for his favorite sport's team, to the deed for a newly purchased house, could fit this theme.
Second -- Cotton. Clothing is an evident choice for this anniversary. Either buy your spouse something beautiful to wear, or surprise them by dressing yourself up for a night out.
Third -- Leather. Leather clothing or leather accessories make fine gifts, but even the leather interior of a new automobile could fit this anniversary.
Fourth -- Flowers. Large bouquets of her favorite flowers are the most traditional expression of this anniversary, but any gift with a floral motif would be appropriate.
Fifth -- Wood. Any number of things can be made of wood, from picture frames and clocks to cabinets and houses.
Sixth -- Sugar. This is most commonly interpreted as candy, especially gourmet boxes from specialty confectioners. It could also be a decadent dessert at the end of an elegant anniversary dinner.
Seventh -- Wool. Many people choose wool clothing or accessories for this anniversary.
Eighth -- Bronze. Many people prefer to interpret this as a bronze or copper color instead of the metal itself. The neatest suggestion I have ever come across was to give your spouse a bronze-colored tan by taking an anniversary trip to the tropics.
Ninth -- Pottery. Many like to interpret this as "china" and shop accordingly, but as china is also the twentieth anniversary item, you are better off looking at vases, plates, perhaps even pottery lessons you and your spouse can take together.
Tenth -- Tin or Aluminum. A decorative tin full of your spouse's favorite cookies or candies would fit this anniversary, as would any gadget or device with aluminum housing.
Eleventh -- Steel. Stainless steel cookware or dishware would make a fine gift, especially if you've been using the same pots and utensils you got for your wedding.
Twelfth -- Silk. Silk bed sheets or nightclothes can make the twelfth anniversary one to remember.
Thirteenth -- Lace. It is hard to shop lace for a man, but lace nightclothes on a woman can be a treat for both of you!
Fourteenth -- Ivory. This is a nearly impossible tradition to keep, as ivory is now considered illegal in most countries. However, ivory as a color--an antique shade of off-white--can be put to any number of possibilities.
Fifteenth -- Crystal. Anything from vases and dishes to decanters of fine wine could fit the crystal tradition.
After the fifteenth anniversary, tradition commonly jumps in spans of five, and, with the exception of the Twentieth, all feature precious stones or metals. Cufflinks, earrings, and necklaces are the most common ways of expressing any precious stone anniversary, though in all cases the color of the stone could also be used as a gift-buying theme.
Twentieth -- China. Most commonly the dishes, though a couple looking for a vacation could also visit the country itself.
Twenty-Fifth -- Silver. This could be any form of silver jewelry or other accessory, as well as any number of silver-plated objects and keepsakes.
Thirtieth -- Pearl.
Thirty-Fifth -- Coral.
Fortieth -- Ruby.
Forty-Fifth -- Sapphire.
Fiftieth -- Gold. The fiftieth anniversary is most often recognized with gold rings, sometimes accompanied by wedding recommitment ceremonies.
Fifty-fifth -- Emerald.
Sixtieth -- Diamond. Though often used as the seventy-fifth anniversary of stores or festivals, diamond is the sixtieth for married couples. Like the fiftieth anniversary, rings are the most common expression of this tradition.
If you are lucky enough to celebrate beyond sixty years of marriage, you should be an old hat at this gift-giving thing, and can probably choose a stunning anniversary gift without the help of tradition!
For those having trouble finding fitting gift ideas, a "modern" anniversary list also exists. Seemingly put together by shopping malls and department stores, the modern list replaces many of the materials with manufactured goods--appliances, desk sets, jewelry, watches, and clocks. Personally, I feel that the traditional anniversary list leaves more room for individual thought and expression, and is therefore the best list to use.

Rolls have changed -- I am a bridesmaid now
We have some dear friends that are getting married 2 weeks before we tied the knot a year ago. My sister is the matron of honor and i am one of 5 bridesmaids
It is time to throw the shower and since this is wedding related although not mine i thought that i would share some experiences here maybe it can help someone.
This couple have been together for a number of years and have a child together and already live together so like tim and I they do not need much. they do like the outdoors so my sister and I came up with a a camping theme idea ( that i took from a previous post)
IDEA
Camping ThemeWe had a wonderful Camping shower thrown for us. All guests were assigned a time of the day and all items were related to camping. This is a great idea for a couple who enjoys the outdoors. We received tons of things that we would have never purchased for ourselves such as air mattresses, a Coleman stove, cast iron cookware, floats, tent, lantern, sunscreen and beach towels. The ideas were endless and it was perfect for us, especially since we both had everything (dishes, sheets, etc.) The shower was held in the back yard of a friend with a bonfire. We roasted hot dogs and marshmallows for smores. It was a wonderful casual shower that was enjoyed by all
To make this more interesting we made it an AROUND THE CLOCK shower. Yes we have assigned each guest a time of day to purchase something that the couple can do on an OUTDOOR ADVENTURE!!!!
My wording
Come celebrate the bride-to-be Jolayne as she prepares to have the adventure of her life when she marries Michael! An Outdoor Adventure Around-the-Clock Bridal Shower and weenie roast is planned. Your time of day is _____________!! Please bring an outdoor gift appropriate to that time of day. For example, 10 am might mean a breakfast tray or a robe. 2 pm might mean hiking and fishing gear. 7 pm might be a set of cocktail glasses (plastic), smore stuff, or whatever else you can think of! Please write your time of day on the package.

Our first Vacation
we are heading out on our first vacation as a married couple.
See yes we were married when we went on the honeymoon however i still had to travel as a flint, because nothing had been legally changed yet.
We are heading to see his mother and sisters in NM and then off to CO to see his son graduate from community college and visit with some great friends while on the road.
So what should i know about traveling as his wife?????

18 Clues He's Still Crazy About You
Okay ladies this was super cute i got it from
http://lifestyle.msn.com/relationships/articlegh.aspx?cp-documentid=17405317>1=32023
You say your husband can't express his feelings? Here are all the funny little ways he says, "I love you."
1. When you wear a T-shirt, boxers, and socks to bed, somehow he still thinks you're cute.
2. He doesn't laugh when you pronounce former hockey star Mark Messier's name as "Mark Messy-er."
3. The only framed photo on his bureau is of you at age ten — with short bangs, cat glasses, and metal braces. (If he kept it in his wallet, you would have to kill him.)
4. He automatically smooshes all spiders for you.
5. He tried — unsuccessfully, but he tried — to clean the rust ring his shaving-cream can left on the sink.
6. After you rear-ended that Lexus in the parking lot, his very first words were "Are you OK?"
7. At this point, his wedding band is so tight, it makes his finger look swollen — but he swears he'd feel naked without it.
8. He doesn't try to guess what you want for your birthday — he asks your best friend.
9. He's incapable of putting dishes into the dishwasher but has learned to stack them in the sink. (oh tim puts them in the dishwasher)
10. He understands which old boyfriends are fair game and which aren't.
11. He doesn't "whoop!" while watching the Super Bowl anymore. OK, he does, but he's definitely cut back the whooping by about 20 percent.
12. He'll pick up a box of tampons at the drugstore without wincing.
13. Though you've had several kids together, he's never once announced, "We're pregnant!" (we are not having children together so no worries here)
14. He wears that "Kiss Me, I'm Irish" sweatshirt you bought him during a weak moment — sometimes even in public.
15. He's careful never to deal with nose hairs in your presence.
16. When you drag him to sentimental movies, he doesn't sit there and snicker. (He may fall asleep, but he won't snicker.)
17. He doesn't comment on your new haircut unless you ask him to. And then he lies.
18. He may forget to give you a card for Valentine's Day, but at least he understands this is a criminal offense. And he's prepared to pay the price.

Roses --- what do the colors mean
As we will celebrate our first Valentines as a married couple (that is still weird to say) I was trying to think of something unique to give Tim, (i still have no idea) but i did come across a cool website that talks about the color meaning of roses so i thought that i would share
RED AND WHITE TOGETHER: Meaning: While red is the universal color of love/romance, desire, passion and white means pure, the two together mean unity, ready for commitment and undying love, everlasting love and new beginnings Perfect For: Newlyweds, Married Couples, or Someone considering marriage and will probably pop the question soon
PINK Meaning: Gentle, grace, refinement, elegance, femininity. Meaning varies depending on hue. Deep pink means gratitude and appreciate while pale pink means admiration, gentleness and happiness Perfect For: Secret Admirer, Crush, New Love
WHITE Meaning: Unity, Sincerity, Loyalty, Faithfulness, Purity, Spiritual Love, A love stronger than death Perfect For: Daughter from her father or parents, Newly-formed love, Fiance, A relationship that just turned exclusive
YELLOW Meaning: Joy, Gladness, Friendship, Familiar Love Perfect For: Platonic Love, Best friends, Gal pals, Friends, Co-workers, Sisters
ORANGE - Meaning: Pride, Amazement, Enthusiasm, Desire, Passion Perfect For: Someone you adore or appreciate, Someone who did something great, Someone you'd like to be with, A friendship that turned to love
PURPLE Meaning: Enchantment, Magical, Majestic glory, Love. Light purple roses convey love at first sight or the beginning of a relationship. Dark purple roses are for more serious relationships. Perfect For: Someone you're infatuated by, Puppy love, Eternal love, A beauty that's so rare
RED Meaning: Love, Passion, Desire, Excitement, Heat. Fully- bloomed red roses say "I love you", while rose buds convey love for the first time. Perfect for: Lovers, True Love, Someone you like, Love that's still growing, Rekindled love or old flame
PEACH Meaning: Success, Modesty, Genuine, Sympathy, Closed a deal Perfect For: Reunion of a long-distance relationship, Valentine's day dinner party for friends
******wonder which ones i will get!!!
